Looking at old maps of Desborough I come across Desborough Mill and wonder if there's still any trace. There is a building where it used to be, now owned by Lee-Dickens. the original has been demolished but the mill pond may still remain in the grounds. This blog was very helpful.
Update 26 July: visited the site this morning to see if the woodland had potential for a school visit. It looks very promising and Sue in the reception at Lee-Dickens arranged for us to take the children there at the start of the Gruffalo topic.
